I couldn't resist making this. The Sakura blossoms this year was the best we've had since we planted tree 15 years ago. It's a late spring but good one. Fortunately, there were no heavy rains or winds so the blossoms lasted longer than usual.

New Product Announcement!

The Stone Mask Fountain Pen; formally know as Moai Clip Pen is no longer a prototype. It is now an official product. It will be available in two surface finishes, polished (smooth) and unpolished (grainy). The quality of finish is excellent. Unlike most of the 3D printed products you see today, you can't tell this is a 3D printed unless someone tells you it is. It will be produced on demand base. We will keep some stocks but it will take at least 3 weeks to manufacture once stock run out. We are now taking advance orders so please let us know if you would like to own this uniquely designed and manufactured fountain pen. We are offering advance order specials for $144 + $6 US and $16 international shipping until May 31, 2015. After that, the regular price will be $174 + shipping. Available nibs sizes are Fine, Medium or Broad. Click photo below for more photos and info.

The 3D printing adventure continue...

At last, I found a solution for the original 3D printed clip! Instead of printing a clip separately, I designed it into a part of the cap and printed it as one piece.

This is first prototype for the Moai Clip Pen (My original design inspired by stone statue of Ester island) printed in polished metallic plastic (feels like a stone). The Clip works and the quad threads screws for the barrel and cap came out nicely and function well. The threads for the nib housing (JoWo #6) also works. There is one concern. The ink will stain the section if you dip it into the ink bottle because the printed plastic is porous. However, you can avoid this problem by using ink cartridge or detach the converter from the section when you fill the ink. Over all, I'm pleased the result. it opened new way of pen making. Please contact me if anyone want to play with this prototype.

The 3D printing adventure continue...

I still don't come up with a good clip idea but I'm happy with this frog so I would like to share. Originally made as a ring but it fit nicely on one of my pen.
